Beauty Teen 05:28
16 years old. Dressed to kill, wearing high heels. Angel face, x-rated smile, sexy blue eyes. In a feline move, she comes to whisper in your ear. The right words to send chills down your spine. She’s a Beauty Queen. Your princess for the night. A Beauty Queen. An Angel in the night. Champagne on ice, cocaine, high class. Pure child playing President’s wife. Jet-set movie stars, they’ll pay the price. Secret love, college girl. There’s no price. She’s a Beauty Queen. Get ready to be pleased. Let off the steam. With an expert teen. She starts to strip, lighting up the room with her dazzling beauty. Sweet innocent child dancing around. Delicate sensuality. I should be excited, not in dismay, but I feel so guilty. I wanna hold her tight, save her life, but she needs no pity. She chose her path at young age. How many would’ve liked to do the same? She leads her life her own way. She needs no one to hold her hand. But how is she feeling? I hope she won’t finish in pain. She’s an expert teen. Not a job you keep for life. Sex, drugs and money. Just a passion for a while.

No Hero 04:20
I know it was late at night. But I can’t remember the time. I just saw two eyes, in the dead of the night. And this girl running for her life. He finally reached her in the alley, Slapped her in the face once or twice. She fell on the ground. He kicked her in the head. There was blood all over the place. I could hear her cries. I didn’t know what to do to help. He got out a knife and put it against her neck. I was petrified. I was paralysed. So afraid. He pushed the blade in. It was too late. She let out a strange sound. Not a scream. Just a noise. Death. I fell on my knees, started crying. I’m not strong enough to start fighting. He must have heard me. He came back to kill me. Had no choice to defend my life. I picked up a rod and managed to give him the first blow. I hit his head and split open his skull. He swivelled one time and fell heavily on the road. I heard his last breath. That’s it.

The show is done, the words are gone. The act is finished and it’s all foolish. ‘Cause after me, there will be more. The final curtain, is not down yet. I wonder what will happen after me? Alone in my darkness, I can hear the silence roar. My girl is not with me. I feel pain in my bones. I’m scared to death and I feel it. It’s the end.

Hello, Hello. Hello you all. I’ve been your friend. I loved you so. Don’t be afraid ‘cause I won’t tell. I had you all in my cyber bed. You came to me to get some love. You stripped naked, revealed your souls. A secret need to be debauched. Girls and boys, I pleased you all. House wives inhibition turned to flame. Young virgin hearts, I depraved. You wanted more. I gave you more. Desire, lust, sensuality. Degraded sex, bestiality. Innocence lost. Forbidden love. You told me your dirty fantasies. Carnal dreams I kept in secrecy. It’s time to tell a little about me. So my friends, please meet The Prince. I played my role of mystery. Displayed my charms, my gallantry. You loved my poems. You drank my words. I’m just a fraud. Sad and ugly. Can’t get no girls. No sexuality. I needed love. Need to be loved. Today’s the last you’ll hear from me. This sharp knife will make love to me. Will enter me. Last debauchery. Let me show you the true me. My mother tongue is my last gift. Laissez-moi mourir. Ma façon de jouir. Ma vie coule vers le néant. Le Prince coule avec ce sang.
10.
I feel so down again. Feel trapped in my own head. No drugs can free me. Cheap sex kills me. I need to get off. I crave for freedom. Ain’t no solution. I lost my vision. It’s slowly killing me. Killing me surely. I’m going crazy. Crazier than me. LAUGHS

A young boy on his way home. Lighting his first cig of the day. Pride and joy of his mother. Sweet kid on top of the trade. Fights got him the power, to rule the neighborhood his way. He keeps high-hand on business. Makes sure nobody’s in the way. Ambushed in the alley. Gun shots were heard two blocks away. Bullets mist the leader. Some of his friends were blown away. Drugs related murder. He will track down the killers. Blood for vengeance. A promise he made on their graves. Clash between gang members. Another deadly war for power. Casualties in numbers. Gory headlines in papers. Who’s losing, who’s winning. They’re only fueled by the killings. Cops thrown in nightmares. They can’t even stop this madness. Only one kid has kept his fate. He’ll be the one to stop the hate. He rose above it all. Merged the clans and took control. He now leads a larger gang. Many souls to carry out his plan. With the drug’s money pouring in, they stopped looking for the hit man. Wealthy boys fill the ranks. Who cares for the dead men.

I have missed you baby. I missed you a lot. I have missed you baby. I missed you a lot. I was gone so long baby, I wasn’t sure if you’d forgot. I wanna hold you baby. Hold you in my arms. I wanna kiss you baby. Your sweet lips on my mouth. It’s been so long baby, I felt your body so warm. I wanna feel your body, make love with you tonight. I wanna taste your baby, my tongue between your thighs. It feels so great baby. Your moves are so nice. The sweet smell of you cuming, couldn’t get that out of my mind. Your the goddess of my dreams, the passion of my life. The one I wanna please, the angel of my nights. My reason to live or for whom I would die. My fairy to protect from the violence and fights. Your my sweet lovin’ baby, the mother of my child. I know I traded you for a rock-and-roll life. It’s sure not the way to treat a beautiful wife. I couldn’t help it; I had these songs in my mind. I worked day and night to put a hit on the charts. Screamin’ and sweatin’ everyday for the sharks. But it was worth the pain; I just had a ball. A few tours and records, I’m now a rock-and-roll star. Parties and ladies, great sex and fast cars. Teenage life until you’re fatter and bald.

Overtime 04:49
Running everyday to catch my soul. Running everyday, banging my head against the wall. Running everyday to catch this call. Running every way, making sure I beat the fall. Bah dah! M’bah dah! M’bah dah, bah. Working everyday to fit the mould. Working everyday, another way to play my role. Sweating everyday in this shit alone. Digging everyday a little deeper in my whole. Bah dah! M’bah dah! M’bah dah, bah. Mating in my bed, misfits and whores. Killing in my head, bosses and bores. Falling in the cracks of my own insanity. Cutting-up the rats rotting in my sleep. Bah dah! M’bah dah! M’bah dah, bah. Keeping every night the madness alive. Threw away the pieces of my scattered life. I wake-up in the morning with a rested smile. Reaching for the goal; the human high.

about

Existence's second full concept album Small People, Short Story, Little Crime, released in August 1999 is considered to be one of the most ambitious concept album in years by more than 30 prog-rock publications in the world.

Although Alan Charles never considered his music to be "real" progressive rock, the critics and lovers of the genre saw it differently, praising its originality & scores of different styles, comparing it to the likes of early Kansas, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd and King Krimson among others!

The concept itself, loosely based on a glossy magazine depicts different strange characters from the teen prostitute to the drug dealer or bizarre cyber-sex addict while the 56-page "magazine" which serves as the CD booklet goes in details of the different stories with the lyrics of the songs printed in bold-face within the articles! And to push the envelope even further, the magazine also contains music & movie reviews, an editorial page and ads!

The recording took place again at Créason Studio in Montreal with Alan Charles & Gaston Gagnon producing and Jean-Guy Montpetit in command of the buttons and mixing. Videos of the different stories depicted in the magazine were also shot to be used on tour.

The CD and tour that followed helped Existence gain a lot more popularity outside America where the album still attracts many fans. The slick production and quality of the album finally gave Existence and Alan's music the recognition it deserved.

about

Existence Montreal, Québec

Existence started as a “rock-opera” project written by Alan Charles. Joined by other musicians, the band took the name of the project before starting touring in 1992.

The album Small People, Short Story, Little Crime came out in 1999.

In 2017, Existence released the complete original concept as the ably titled Origins album, since only half of it had been released as an album until then.
