No Hero 04:35
I know it was late at night. But I can’t remember the time. I just saw two eyes, in the dead of the night. And this girl running for her life. He finally reached her in the alley, Slapped her in the face once or twice. She fell on the ground. He kicked her in the head. There was blood all over the place. I could hear her cries. I didn’t know what to do to help. He got out a knife and put it against her neck. I was petrified. I was paralysed. So afraid. He pushed the blade in. It was too late. She let out a strange sound. Not a scream. Just a noise. Death. I fell on my knees, started crying. I’m not strong enough to start fighting. He must have heard me. He came back to kill me. Had no choice to defend my life. I picked up a rod and managed to give him the first blow. I hit his head and split open his skull. He swivelled one time and fell heavily on the road. I heard his last breath. That’s it.

Autumn Brain 08:30
Your head is falling apart like an old tree bouncing in the wind. Leaves are coming down through your eyes, It's just a question of time until you die. The silence of night scares you to death, So suicide is the path you find to see the truth of life. Dusk is in your eyes even if the shadow of life still have a last breath. You can't see the sun shinning, because the clouds in your soul still stand in front of your eyes. Slowly you're coming down, like the rain I see falling out of your mind. You always see the black side of things, While your heart screams a silent misery. You seem to be in a strange state of mind, I would like to know if you hear me inside. Talk to me; I can't read your mind. Talk to me. Don't cut the line. Why didn't you come to me, When you felt your life got so hopeless. Now your face shows your agony, You used to be so receptive. Talk to me; I can't read your mind. Don't leave me, don't cut the line. The wind blows hard and my head is ice. It's to late for me, I already threw the dices. I've been dead long before you knew me, It was all hidden down inside me. I feel my life dripping out of my mind. Even at night, I see the sun shine so bright. Someone is taking care of me. I'm happy. Can you see my smile? Let me die. Let me die alone with my thoughts and my pains. I'm O.K. I found my way.

Here I am in my last battle. I fought them all: suicide, rape, war and drugs. Running every day to save my soul. I still don't understand what rules this world. I lost my time looking for the light. Looking for the truth nobody have. Spitting on the laws, I wanted to change the world. Fighting with ny only arm: my words. Sitting here tonight, writing my last song. I finally never found what went wrong. Man works so hard. What is it all about? We'll all be the same six feet underground. I feel so old, I'm afraid of darkness. When I close my eyes I return to nothing. I see my grave, I see my body. My head is dead. My soul is empty. (Why?) I'm afraid to die. (Why?) What is there after life? (Why?) I'm going crazy. (Why?) Nobody can help me. I lost my last battle.

A young boy on his way home. Lighting his first cig of the day. Pride and joy of his mother. Sweet kid on top of the trade. Fights got him the power, to rule the neighborhood his way. He keeps high-hand on business. Makes sure nobody’s in the way. Ambushed in the alley. Gun shots were heard two blocks away. Bullets mist the leader. Some of his friends were blown away. Drugs related murder. He will track down the killers. Blood for vengeance. A promise he made on their graves. Clash between gang members. Another deadly war for power. Casualties in numbers. Gory headlines in papers. Who’s losing, who’s winning. They’re only fueled by the killings. Cops thrown in nightmares. They can’t even stop this madness. Only one kid has kept his fate. He’ll be the one to stop the hate. He rose above it all. Merged the clans and took control. He now leads a larger gang. Many souls to carry out his plan. With the drug’s money pouring in, they stopped looking for the hit man. Wealthy boys fill the ranks. Who cares for the dead men.

Part 1: DRIPPING CLOUD (Instrumental) Part 2: NO SUN CAN SHINE (Instrumental) Part 3: DARKNESS The show is done, the words are gone. The act is finished and it’s all foolish. ‘Cause after me, there will be more. The final curtain, is not down yet. I wonder what will happen after me? Alone in my darkness, I can hear the silence roar. My girl is not with me. I feel pain in my bones. I’m scared to death and I feel it. It’s the end. Part 4: DELIRIUM (Instrumental) Part 5: OPEN LETTER TO MY FRIENDS Hello, Hello. Hello you all. I’ve been your friend. I loved you so. Don’t be afraid ‘cause I won’t tell. I had you all in my cyber bed. You came to me to get some love. You stripped naked, revealed your souls. A secret need to be debauched. Girls and boys, I pleased you all. House wives inhibition turned to flame. Young virgin hearts, I depraved. You wanted more. I gave you more. Desire, lust, sensuality. Degraded sex, bestiality. Innocence lost. Forbidden love. You told me your dirty fantasies. Carnal dreams I kept in secrecy. It’s time to tell a little about me. So my friends, please meet The Prince. I played my role of mystery. Displayed my charms, my gallantry. You loved my poems. You drank my words. I’m just a fraud. Sad and ugly. Can’t get no girls. No sexuality. I needed love. Need to be loved. Today’s the last you’ll hear from me. This sharp knife will make love to me. Will enter me. Last debauchery. Let me show you the true me. My mother tongue is my last gift. Laissez-moi mourir. Ma façon de jouir. Ma vie coule vers le néant. Le Prince coule avec ce sang. Part 6: FAREWELL FROM THE LONE POET I feel so down again. Feel trapped in my own head. No drugs can free me. Cheap sex kills me. I need to get off. I crave for freedom. Ain’t no solution. I lost my vision. It’s slowly killing me. Killing me surely. I’m going crazy. Crazier than me. LAUGHS

about

On October 12, 1999 Existence played the Cabaret in Montreal for the Live The Experience tour just after the release of Small People, Short Story, Little Crime.

A player/recorder MiniDisc had been plugged directly in the board to record the show for the band's own archives. But after a wave of enthusiasm from the fans when a few tracks were made available online, it was decided to master these tracks without adding any overdubs of any kind and release them as a proper album.

The result is a raw live sound with no frills but this CD thus represnts a very important time in the history of Existence!

about

Existence Montreal, Québec

Existence started as a “rock-opera” project written by Alan Charles. Joined by other musicians, the band took the name of the project before starting touring in 1992.

The album Small People, Short Story, Little Crime came out in 1999.

In 2017, Existence released the complete original concept as the ably titled Origins album, since only half of it had been released as an album until then.
