A young boy on his way home.
Lighting his first cig of the day.
Pride and joy of his mother.
Sweet kid on top of the trade.

Fights got him the power, to rule the neighborhood his way.
He keeps high-hand on business. Makes sure nobody’s in the way.

Ambushed in the alley.
Gun shots were heard two blocks away.
Bullets mist the leader.
Some of his friends were blown away.

Drugs related murder. He will track down the killers.
Blood for vengeance. A promise he made on their graves.

Clash between gang members. Another deadly war for power.
Casualties in numbers. Gory headlines in papers.
Who’s losing, who’s winning. They’re only fueled by the killings.

Cops thrown in nightmares. They can’t even stop this madness.
Only one kid has kept his fate. He’ll be the one to stop the hate.
He rose above it all. Merged the clans and took control.

Existence started as a “rock-opera” project written by Alan Charles. Joined by other musicians, the band took the name of the project before starting touring in 1992.

The album Small People, Short Story, Little Crime came out in 1999.
