about

Act I - Scene VII

Alone on Maryse’s grave Krissy reveals her secret.

lyrics

Sixteen years old. Where did you hide your smiling eyes?
Forever closed, I didn’t even say goodbye.
What did you think, leaving alone that fatal night?
I should have been there. Now, can you hear me cry?

So many years but I'll never forget.
What happened to me only one week before you left.
I'm telling you the truth and believe me I'm sorry.
I hope you'll understand. It's only the way I feel.

They were so nice, always telling jokes.
How could I’ve guessed what would follow
Then I realized they weren't laughing any more.
I saw their evil eyes but it was too late to go.

They hurt me bad, I was little, I was shy.
You were sleeping so you couldn't hear me cry.
They took my body. With force they played with it.
I screamed, I begged, but god, they wouldn't quit.

Why did you go away, leaving me alone?
I don't want to stay. Don't want to live here on my own.
Every night I cry. I would like to change it all.
I recall those nights, I think it's all my fault.

Twenty years old, standing here alone.
Everybody's gone. My youth was stolen.
Wait for me. I'm still without a home.
I wanna be with you. Happiness is gone.

about

Existence Montreal, Québec

Existence started as a “rock-opera” project written by Alan Charles. Joined by other musicians, the band took the name of the project before starting touring in 1992.

The album Small People, Short Story, Little Crime came out in 1999.

In 2017, Existence released the complete original concept as the ably titled Origins album, since only half of it had been released as an album until then.
